Hashtags allow you to view all of the other public social media posts just by clicking on it.

For example, when you go to Instagram, you can search certain hashtags and see what others are posting.

It is an easy way to quickly like or comment on a photo to potentially create a new relationship with that individual.


As a direct seller, you may be wondering which hashtags for your direct sales business you should use.

What To Post on Instagram

The key to Instagram is to post photos your ideal client would love to see.

This may include behind the scenes photos of your business, products, your family, and even uplifting images that include positive quotes.

Optimize Your Instagram Bio

Keep your Bio concise and easy to read.

Write a short series of things about you and include one emoji if you like.

Think about your interests outside of your direct sales business and also write what your business does for your customers.

Include these to expand your customer base and reach.

Link To Your Website Inside Your Instagram Bio

Include a link to your Facebook Business Page or Business Website.

Instagram does not allow for live links within your posts or comments. Your Bio is the only place where a link can be placed and clickable by your followers.

Once you set up an account, you have the ability to have multiple links associated with your Instagram bio.

Use Bitly To Track Data From Your Instagram Profile

You can direct your Instagram followers to your direct sales business website by including it in your Bio.

Better yet, if you use Bitly to shorten your business website, you can then track how many followers are clicking your business link.

Be Creative!

Instagram is a very visual platform.

Followers love to see clean, bright, and positive images.

Think about what you are trying to tell your followers and choose an image that will convey that.

Instagram is perfect for posts that ask the follower to do something.

Whether it be an image asking which vacation spot they prefer, which pattern they like, or red vs. white wine, engaging images and questions are ways to increase your likes and boost your follower count.

It is also a way to funnel people over to your Facebook page, group, or direct sales website.

Like & Follow Those You Love

Like and Follow back.

As an avid Instagram user, I appreciate those that take a tiny portion out of their day to like my posts and follow me.

After I post to Instagram, I set aside 10-15 minutes to see who liked my post, go to their feed and double tap 1-3 of their posts.

Same for those who follow me.

When I see a new follower, I quickly review their page and if they are a true person and not a spambot, I click the follow button.

Consistency Is Key!

Instagram thrives on consistency and posting once a day will keep your followers engaged and coming back for more.
