While you are building your small empire and growing your direct sales business from home, you might find yourself feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and not sure just how to get it all together. I know the feeling very well.
Scheduling posts on your Facebook business page, keeping up with your Facebook group, posting on Instagram, and falling down the Pinterest rabbit hole.
The struggle is real! Here are my best tips on how to stay focused while working from home.
Organize
Organizing to me basically means, what needs to be done. Think of it by month, week, and day. What goals are you hoping to achieve each month and what do you need to do weekly and daily to get there.
Go old school, take a blank sheet of paper, and write. Write down goals, write down the follow-ups you need to make, the parties you need to create, and the events you need to attend.
Once you have it down on paper, it becomes real, it shows you are serious about achieving your goals, and it makes focusing on your direct sales business a whole lot easier.
Schedule
Once you have the “what” worked out, the next step is to schedule. When will you accomplish all of these #goalgetter tasks? Do you work best in the morning before everyone in your house is up? Are you a night owl and prefer to jam it out when all is quiet in the house?
Find your groove and go with it.
Go through your to-do list and see where you can streamline some of your tasks. There are a lot of tools out there to help you schedule your posts in Facebook, plan your posts on Instagram, and even keep you active on Pinterest when you are not even on the computer.
Just Do It
Easier said than done right? How will you accomplish each task? This answer is different for all of us, so be prepared to do whatever it takes to stay focused on the task at hand and get things done!
Turn off notifications, put your phone in the other room, do not, I repeat, do not check Facebook! Take it one step at a time and when you have checked a few things off of your list, rewards yourself with 10 minutes catching up on Facebook.
If you do get sidetracked, make a note to go back to what you were doing and do not move onto the next step until the first has been completed. Use a post-it, write on your hand, set an alarm on your phone, whatever it is, finish the task that you set out to do that day.
Unplug
Make sure to take the time to unplug, step away, go for a walk, play with the kids, whatever it is, do this daily.
You may also find that you come up with creative new ideas or ways to grow your direct sales business. You know when my best ideas come to me? When I’m folding laundry, or outside with the kids. No joke!
It’s the simple art of doing something not related to my blog or direct sales business that my mind is free and open to conjure up brilliant ideas and think of my next steps.
I’m hopeful these tips have inspired you when it comes to thinking about how to stay focused while working from home. Get in the right mindset, make yourself some coffee, and get it done!
