When I first started this whole direct sales blogging thing, my focus was purely on my direct sales business with Origami Owl. I’ve made a lot of changes and tried (and failed) at a lot of things when it comes to my website, but I have been tracking my social media growth and wanted to share my direct sales blog social media growth for the 1st half of 2017!
One of the things I love to do when it comes to my blog and direct sales business is to keep track of all of my social media accounts, the growth in followers, and the various income streams I have coming in each month.
Want to know my secret of how I keep track of all this….a Google Drive Document. 😉
You see, sometimes you don’t need apps or websites or complicated spreadsheets to help with your business. A pen and notebook or typing into a Google Drive doc are all you need most times to keep track and see where you have grown and what you have accomplished.
So let’s do the numbers, shall we?
Starting numbers for January 1st, my Facebook Business Page was a nice even, 100. After 6 months, that number grew to 353 with most of those from individuals I have no contact with otherwise. I never sent an invite for people to like my page, the growth was completely organic. It is a small jump, but I’m pleased with those numbers.
After mastering the Facebook Instant Article debacle of 2017, I am pleased to report that my Facebook business page actually brings in monthly income. It’s not a lot, but it’s another income producing avenue for me and a reminder to give my Facebook business page a little more attention in the future.
I focused heavily on my Instagram account at the beginning of 2016. I was new to Instagram and after completing some great Instagram training, I was able to grow my following, make relationships with fellow direct sales consultants, and sell my Origami Owl products on Instagram. I took a step back from Instagram in 2017 so the growth is not nearly as great as it could be.
At the beginning of the year, my Instagram follower count was 2,399. I’ve added just over a couple hundred more followers in the last 6 months to make a total of 2,533. And you know what? I’m okay with that.
I’ve mentioned before that Instagram is a platform I have a love/hate relationship with. The relationships I have made from Instagram have been helpful for my direct sales business, but I get burnt out and a little overwhelmed with trying to post on a consistent basis.
Which brings me to my favorite social media platform, Pinterest! So many direct sellers do not realize the potential and power that Pinterest has for their businesses and at the beginning of the year, I took a big risk with my direct sales business. I stepped away from the traditional route of Facebook parties and I focused solely on my Origami Owl blog and Pinterest account.
My follower count on Pinterest on January 1st was 688. I am now just under 1.7K followers! I doubled my Pinterest follower count is just under 6 months. There is some strategy behind how I grow my following and the direct income results that I see from my Pinterest account have been worth the time and effort that goes into it.
As a direct sales blogger, it is super important to have a subscriber list. Not only are your subscribers your tried and true followers that love the content you are putting out, you are also the sole owner of your email list. No one can take that away and it isn’t subject to algorithms.
I started the year with 58 subscribers. Not a bad number and again, we all have to start somewhere!
I made some changes on my blog and found some pretty cool plugins to use and I have had consistent list growth week after week. My total subscriber list is now at 906 and growing!
My focus on providing my readers and subscribers with solutions to the direct sales questions that we all have is important to me and I’m excited for what the future holds for my blog and my followers.
Direct Sales Social Media Growth
What is the big message here? The one solid thing I have learned this year as I have tracked my direct sales blog social media growth is that over time, consistency and constant engagement pays off in organic growth. You don’t have to buy ads, pay for followers, participate in Instagram pods or like ladders. Be authentic, provide value to your communities, and wake up each day and do it all over again.
