How to Store Java Momma Coffee
There are a few things to remember when you think of how to store Java Momma Coffee. With coffee beans and freshly ground coffee, you will want to avoid exposing your coffee to:
Let’s dive a little deeper into where and how to store your Java Momma Coffee!
Location, Location, Location
One of the best places to store your coffee is in a dark pantry or kitchen cupboard. Pay particular attention to where the pantry or cupboard is. Try and avoid ones that are near the oven where there is a risk of being exposed to heat.
If you love to store your coffee and have it accessible on your countertop, be sure to use an opaque, airtight container. Choose a spot that stays out of the sunlight and away from the heat of an oven or stove.
Coffee Beans vs. Freshly Ground
Coffee beans stay fresher for longer compared to freshly ground coffee. It is best to store your coffee beans and freshly grind them when you are ready to make a great pot of coffee.
Whole coffee beans are best used within one month of roasting. Ground coffee is best used within 1-2 weeks.
Contrary to popular belief, it is best to keep any coffee out of the fridge and freezer. The cold environment breaks down some of the oils in the coffee and will alter the flavor and freshness of the beans.
I mentioned above that opaque, airtight containers are best for storing coffee beans and freshly ground coffee. I’ve rounded up 5 of the best containers to use!
The Coffee POP Container from OXO blocks 99% of UV Rays. This would be perfect for countertop coffee storage. Create an airtight seal with a press of a button and holds a 1lb. bag of coffee beans or coffee grounds nicely.
The Friss 16-ounce coffee vault is available in red, black, and stainless steel. It blocks out light and air to seal in the flavor and keep coffee fresh. Also included is a measuring spoon, one year supply of Friis freshness valves, getting started instructions and the Art of Flavor booklet
Available in 6 different colors (I’m partial to the blue!) the Coffee Gator Coffee Canister has a one-way valve which allows Co2 to leave but stops air and light from entering and attacking flavor. Holds 1lb of your favorite coffee and includes a free e-book and coffee scoop!
I LOVE the look of this specialty coffee storage container. Luxurious and a statement piece for any kitchen, the seal tight lid keeps coffee fresh.
The stainless steel Osaka canister comes with a built-in pump for maximum freshness. The stainless steel keeps moisture and heat out. To seal the canister, just pump up and down and twist. Easy and you will have confidence knowing your coffee is stored properly!
