New Pinterest Features for your Direct Sales Business
Ah, Pinterest. My BFF for sure. (Shhh. Don’t tell Google!)
Recently, Pinterest has made some updates and I am thrilled to share them with you. Pinterest is one of the keys to my direct sales success and these new features will make life on Pinterest even better!
Pinterest Sections Feature
Right now, you may be using Pinterest like a big scrapbook. Each of your boards is like an individual scrapbook filled with pins related to the board’s title. Over time, your boards get bigger.
Pins are lost and forgotten as your most recent pins are the ones that are shown. Pinterest sections is the answer to sorting these large Pinterest boards.
For example, I have a board devoted to Pinterest Tips for Direct Sellers. With over 630 pins, I know there is awesome content there that is not being utilized.
With the sections feature, I can easily create new sections within my Pinterest Tips board. See these two screenshots on how to add a section to an existing Pinterest board.
When you click on the “+Add section”, the following box pops up.
Type what you would like your new section to be called. To add pins to your new section, save a pin and select the section within the Board you want it to go to. You can do this pin by pin if you like.
Woah woah woah, stop the clock! There has to be an easier way to move my existing pins to a new section!
Yes there is….
Pinterest Organize Feature
This is my favorite new Pinterest feature. There were many times I wanted to delete, copy, or move multiple pins on my Pinterest account without an easy way to do it.
Pinterest has delivered with the new “Organize” button. Click on it and you have these options:
You can select up to 50 pins at a time and you have the ability to do these 3 things.
- MOVE – move any selected pin to a new board or new section within a board
- COPY – use this if you want your pin to stay on the board it is in and you want to add it to another board or section
- DELETE – select up to 50 pins to delete at a time. Great for cleaning up your boards and leaving the high-performing pins on the board
Implementation Ideas
Let’s brainstorm how you could use these new Pinterest features for your direct sales business. Use these topics as a guide in which to create new sections within your existing Pinterest boards. Your followers will appreciate the organized flow to your boards!
Direct Sales Products: Create sections for specific product categories.
For example. As an Origami Owl designer, I have a general Origami Owl Gift Ideas Pinterest board. I could create sections for Living Lockets, Fragrance Jewelry, Charms, etc.
I would pin to the Origami Owl Gift Ideas board first. Then use the copy feature to copy the pin to the correct section.
Seasonal Items: Create sections for the different months or seasons.
Much like the example above, create sections for different seasons and holidays. Pin to the general board first, then copy the pin to the correct seasonal section.
Direct Sales Tips: Create sections for specific social media platforms.
Pin to your Direct Sales Tips board first. Then use the copy feature to copy the pin to the appropriate social media platform section.
What Next?
Pinterest is always changing. Will these new features stick around? Maybe so.
In the meantime, you may encounter glitches and other wonky things, but know that this is normal for any social media channel adding features to its platform.
Play around with these new Pinterest features and be sure to upgrade your account to a Pinterest Business Account.
Super easy, and having the Pinterest analytics available will help you with your ongoing Pinterest strategy.
