Direct Sales Trends for 2018
As 2017 draws to a close, many direct sellers (myself included) are looking ahead to the new year.
New Year, New Goals…right?
Being the Pinterest lover that I am, I stay up to date on what trending topics they find. These topics provide a glimpse into what your direct sales ideal customer is searching for.
But how can these trending topics influence and grow your direct sales business?
Let’s start with the Pinterest list first. Pinterest releases the “Pinterest 100”. 100 Pinterest topics backed by global data that they see as trends for 2018.
After combing through this list, I found many trending topics that direct sales consultants can use in their businesses.
Snacks & Superfoods
If your direct sales business focuses on food or other food-related products, start focusing on snacks and superfoods. Think about your audience and appeal to those looking for easy, quick, and on the go snack solutions.
Where are my Java Momma friends at? Play up the health benefits of coffee and how it can be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle. Pair your healthy coffee content with superfood snacks and you have a trendy suggestion for your community.
Instapots are SO 2017! The new appliance having its time in the spotlight is the air fryer. Aimed at those wanting the deliciousness of fried food but without the guilt, fat, and calories, the air fryer is where it’s at. Create recipes that use an air fryer and stay on top of this tasty trend.
Berets & Embellished Shoes
For those in the clothing direct sales world, think of ways to incorporate berets (ooh la la) and embellished shoes into your product photos. Including these items and tagging them strategically on Instagram and Pinterest may mean an uptick in followers and potential customers.
If you are in the health and wellness direct sales area, start thinking about how your products can help with post-workout activities. Think fitness, stretching, cool down exercises, aromatherapy. Jump on this trending topic early in 2018 when many start New Years fitness and health resolutions.
Edible Essential Oils
Are you an EO direct seller? Edible essential oils will be all the rage in 2018 so start planning now. Come up with a week of meals that cleverly (and deliciously) incorporate essential oils. Share the benefits of using essential oils in this way with your community. Create a fun recipe guide in Canva to provide extra value for your customers.

For beauty and makeup direct sellers be sure to read the Pinterest 100 article. Create unique makeup and beauty routine kits for your community. Share your makeup organization tips. There are many trending topics that can be used as inspiration for fresh new tutorials to share on your social media channels.
